Getting started
Understand what DashBlood does and how to begin.
What is DashBlood?
DashBlood is a free blood donation coordination platform for Cameroon and African communities. It helps patients and families publish hospital-linked blood requests, helps willing donors find compatible needs, and provides hospital, readiness, appointment, tracking, education, and impact tools.
Is DashBlood a hospital, blood bank, or emergency service?
No. DashBlood does not diagnose, dispatch ambulances, collect blood, test blood, store blood, sell blood, allocate blood, or perform transfusions. Hospitals and authorized blood services remain responsible for every clinical activity.
Is DashBlood free?
DashBlood is free for donors, patients, and families. Your mobile operator, internet provider, transport provider, or hospital may still charge its normal fees. DashBlood does not charge people to find or offer blood.
Where can I use DashBlood?
DashBlood’s hospital directory and operational focus are currently centred on Cameroon. Account access and community support extend to users and diaspora networks in other African, European, and North American countries.
Which devices are supported?
DashBlood is designed for Android, iOS, and modern web browsers. Keep your operating system and app version current for security and authentication improvements.
Phone and account access
Help with registration, verification, and sign-in.
How do I create an account?
Open Create Account and choose an available sign-in method: phone, email, Google, or Apple. Complete verification and finish your profile. Never share your password or verification code.
Why did I not receive my SMS verification code?
- Confirm the country and calling code are correct.
- Enter a mobile number that can receive SMS.
- Check signal, blocked messages, and spam filtering.
- Wait before requesting another code; repeated attempts can trigger temporary rate limits.
- Restart the app and use the newest release.
If the SMS still does not arrive, use email sign-in temporarily and contact support with the country, mobile network, device type, app version, and exact error—never the verification code.
I received a code but cannot see where to enter it. What should I do?
Return to the same Phone sign-in screen and wait for the verification-code field to appear. Do not request multiple codes immediately. Update to the latest app release, close and reopen the app, and try once more. If the field still does not appear, contact support with a screenshot and your device/app version, but hide the code and most of your number.
Why am I asked to prove I am not a robot?
Firebase may use reCAPTCHA or device verification to prevent automated SMS abuse. Complete the check and return to DashBlood. The app should keep the phone-verification session and show the OTP field.
Can I use email instead of a phone number?
Yes. Choose “Use email instead” on the login screen. Google and Apple options may also be available depending on your device and platform.
Why is my account temporarily blocked or rate-limited?
Too many verification, password, or SMS attempts can trigger automated abuse protection. Stop retrying, wait, confirm your details, and try later. Support cannot safely bypass Firebase security controls.
Requesting blood
Create accurate, privacy-aware requests and manage responses.
How do I create a blood request?
First confirm the need with the receiving hospital. Open Request Blood, then provide the confirmed blood group, units, urgency, hospital, location, ward/contact details, and the minimum patient information required for coordination.
What information should I confirm with the hospital?
Ask for the exact blood group or component, number of units, receiving facility, ward, urgency, donor arrival instructions, hours, and a contact who can confirm the request. Never guess clinical details.
Does publishing a request guarantee a donor or blood?
No. DashBlood can improve visibility and coordination, but it cannot guarantee availability, compatibility, eligibility, response time, hospital acceptance, transfusion, or outcome.
Who can see a request?
Visibility depends on the request status and platform rules. Potential donors and authorized reviewers may see coordination details. Avoid adding diagnoses, identity documents, financial data, or any information not needed to connect donors with the hospital.
How do I update, close, or cancel a request?
Open the request’s details or tracking screen and use the available owner controls. Close requests promptly when the hospital confirms the need is met, changed, cancelled, or no longer active.
Can I chat with people responding to a request?
DashBlood includes request chat for relevant participants. Keep communication focused on hospital coordination. Never request money, banking credentials, verification codes, or unnecessary medical documents.
What should I do if someone offers to sell blood?
Do not pay or continue the transaction. Save non-sensitive evidence, block the account where possible, and report it through DashBlood support. Contact the hospital directly for safe next steps.
Donating blood
Register responsibly and follow hospital screening.
How do I register to donate?
Open Donate Blood, provide your profile, blood-group and location details, choose a facility and preferred time, complete the readiness questions honestly, and submit the registration for hospital review.
Who decides whether I am eligible?
Only qualified staff at the authorized donation facility. The DashBlood readiness checklist cannot approve or clear you to donate.
What should I do before donating?
Follow the hospital’s instructions. In general, arrive rested, hydrated, and after a normal meal unless staff direct otherwise. Bring accepted identification and disclose medicines, recent illness, procedures, travel, pregnancy, and previous donations honestly.
Can I donate directly at a private location?
DashBlood directs donors to hospitals or authorized collection points. Do not give blood in a home, hotel, vehicle, roadside area, or unverified office.
Can a donor receive payment?
No. DashBlood promotes voluntary, non-remunerated donation. It does not facilitate cash-for-blood or commercial matching.
How often can I donate?
Intervals vary by donation type, medical history, local rules, and facility policy. Use the readiness timeline as a reminder only and ask the donation facility when you are eligible again.
Matching and hospitals
How DashBlood prioritizes requests and helps users find care.
How does donor matching work?
DashBlood can prioritize relevant requests using information such as blood group, distance, location, urgency, and stated availability. A suggested match is not a clinical compatibility decision and does not guarantee eligibility.
Is the blood compatibility chart enough for transfusion?
No. It is educational. Hospitals must perform current typing, antibody screening, crossmatching, infectious-disease testing, and any other required checks.
What is Smart Donor Radius?
It is a coordination feature that helps surface nearer, potentially relevant donors or requests. Distance can be approximate and should never replace direct confirmation of travel feasibility and hospital instructions.
What is in the Hospital Directory?
The directory contains 100+ public and regional facilities across Cameroon’s 10 regions, with filters, search, phone information, and map directions where available. Confirm details directly before travelling because hours and services can change.
Does appearing in the directory mean a hospital is an official partner?
No. Directory inclusion helps people find facilities; it does not automatically mean endorsement or partnership. Verified partner status is handled separately.
Appointments and records
Manage visits, donation history, and digital records.
How do appointments work?
You can request a preferred hospital, date, time, and reason. The appointment remains subject to facility availability and confirmation. Use the appointment screen to view status, reschedule where supported, or get directions.
What is the BloodGroup ID card?
It is a digital profile feature for recording blood-group information, verification status, selected laboratory information, and a share/export option. It is not a replacement for hospital identification or current laboratory testing.
What does Donation History contain?
It can show recorded donations, facility/date information, estimated impact, milestones, and certificates. Records may depend on user entries or facility confirmation and should not be treated as a complete medical record.
What is the Blood Journey?
Blood Journey explains the typical stages around donation and impact so donors can understand how coordinated action supports patients. Actual collection, testing, storage, and use are controlled by authorized facilities.
How are lives impacted estimates calculated?
Impact figures are motivational estimates based on recorded activity, not verified clinical outcome counts. They should not be interpreted as a guarantee that a specific donation directly produced a stated number of outcomes.
Health and safety
Use education tools without replacing professional care.
Does the Health Assistant provide medical diagnosis?
No. It provides general blood-donation education, app guidance, hospital information, and emergency-number references. It cannot diagnose, prescribe, clear a donor, or replace a clinician.
What should I do in a medical emergency?
Call the appropriate local emergency number and go to the nearest emergency department. In Cameroon, commonly referenced numbers include 119 for medical emergencies, 118 for fire/rescue, 117 for police, 113 for gendarmerie, and 112 where available. Coverage can vary, so seek the nearest hospital if a call fails.
What is the Health Passport or readiness check?
It is a self-reported checklist and timeline that helps you remember wellness factors and donation intervals. It does not certify health, laboratory status, or donor eligibility.
What if I feel unwell after donating?
Follow the facility’s discharge instructions. For severe, worsening, or persistent symptoms, contact the donation facility or seek urgent medical care. Do not rely on the app for emergency assessment.
Privacy and security
Protect accounts and minimize sensitive information.
What personal information does DashBlood use?
Depending on the feature, DashBlood may process account details, name, contact information, blood group, donor profile, location, requests, appointments, hospital selections, messages, notification preferences, and operational diagnostics. See the Privacy Policy.
Does DashBlood sell personal information?
DashBlood states that it does not sell personal information. Data should be used only as described in the Privacy Policy and for operating, protecting, and improving the service.
How do I protect my account?
- Never share passwords or one-time SMS codes.
- Use a strong, unique password for email sign-in.
- Review connected sign-in providers and available security settings.
- Keep your device and app updated.
- Sign out of shared devices.
How do I delete my account?
Use the deletion option in the app or follow Delete Account. Some information may be retained when needed for legal, fraud-prevention, safety, audit, or operational obligations.
How do I report a privacy concern?
Email dashbloodofficial@gmail.com with a clear description. Do not attach passwords, OTP codes, full identity documents, or unnecessary medical records.
Notifications and languages
Control alerts and use DashBlood in your preferred language.
What notifications can DashBlood send?
Depending on permissions and settings, DashBlood can provide in-app, push, email, or SMS-related updates for requests, appointments, donation readiness, messages, security, and platform activity.
How do I change notification preferences?
Open Profile, then Notification Preferences. Device-level permissions can also block alerts, so check iOS or Android settings if enabled alerts do not appear.
Which languages are available?
DashBlood supports English, French, and Cameroonian Pidgin. Open Profile → Language to change the app language.
Why is a notification delayed?
Delivery can be affected by network connectivity, battery-saving settings, device permissions, sign-in state, platform delivery services, and server processing. Always contact the hospital directly for time-critical confirmation.
Partners and community
Hospital, ambassador, campaign, and blood-drive participation.
How can a hospital partner with DashBlood?
Use the Hospital Partner application in the app. An authorized representative should provide accurate facility and contact details. DashBlood reviews authorization before granting partner or administrative access.
What can verified hospital or admin teams manage?
Depending on role permissions, teams can review requests and donor registrations, manage blood drives and hospital campaigns, review partner or ambassador applications, view demand analytics, handle support and reports, verify BloodGroup IDs, manage staff access, review deletion requests, and inspect audit records.
How do I become a DashBlood ambassador?
Submit the Ambassador application from your profile. Ambassadors must communicate responsibly, respect privacy, avoid medical claims, and never solicit payment for blood.
Can community groups organize blood drives?
Blood drives should be coordinated with an authorized hospital or blood service. DashBlood campaign and blood-drive tools can support communication and registration, but the clinical collection process remains with qualified facilities.
Support and reporting
Get assistance and report unsafe activity.
How do I contact DashBlood?
Use the in-app Help & Support screen or email dashbloodofficial@gmail.com. Include your device, operating system, app version, and exact steps when reporting a technical problem.
What should I include in a bug report?
- A short description of what you expected and what happened.
- The screen and action that triggered the issue.
- Device model, operating-system version, app version, and time.
- A screenshot with phone numbers, patient details, OTPs, and account information hidden.
How do I report harmful or fraudulent content?
Use available report controls or contact support. Describe the request/account and reason, preserve non-sensitive evidence, and stop communicating with anyone requesting money, passwords, verification codes, or unsafe private collection.
Where can I learn more?
Explore all platform features, read the DashBlood Blog, and review the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Still need help?
Email the DashBlood team. Never include a password, one-time verification code, or unnecessary medical document.
